Save The Last Dance – Vintage Market

The last Sunday of the month has just passed us by and has turned out to be an interesting day indeed. So we did our usual monthly Vie Beads outing at the Brew Haus Market in Bradford where I get to meet up with some of my favourite entrepreneurial women, Jen, Connie and Jill. Due to the Goth weekend in Whitby, Catherine of Purple butterfly Jewellery was away and some of the other usual stall holders were missing for reasons yet unknown to me.

Anyway not to worry I went with one purpose only really this weekend and it was to get some awesome Hanna art from one of Yorkshire’s finest henna artists Connie Tu. Staying true to my boho ethos I got a simple and beautifully drawn mandala for the back of my hand.

For more information about Connie and her art visit her blog

The wonderful Jen who’s creative business Just by Jen is seeing a rise in popularity this year was as happy as ever sporting her Headbands and wonderful creations, of which I own a couple of pieces of course. In the spirit of girly friendships I tried on a couple of her amazing flower headbands and discovered that actually they would be a great prop for my impending bohemian inspired photoshoot which I am slowly planning on a secret Pinterest Board.

See more of Jen and her beautiful flower work find her on Facebook at

Another one of my favourite stall holders is Jill aka The Wax Witch. Jill makes awesome scented candles and waxed acorns so I indulged in some beautifully scented wax melts for my burners at home.25th-April-blog-Jills-Wax-2

For me this was like the long kiss goodnight. I have loved being part of the team as it were at the Brew Haus, but as it does one’s time does come to an end and the last dance comes before we call it a day and move forward this was my last dance with the Brew Haus.

Vie Beads has been working to build it’s online presence as was always the plan from starting the business in September last year. I have spent months agonising over the look and feel of my brand and learning what it’s all about and how I best present it. My work on my Online Etsy shop has been has been a phenomenal teacher and in learning I have been able to assist others in building up their brands, confidence, and understanding of what their brand is all about. I have had support from a fantastic Business Coach, Simon Cartwright of ThinkPositive Coaching and it’s time to step up and deliver more to my audience.

I have really enjoyed meeting the people of Bradford and am really grateful for their loyalty and support, Some have followed me through twitter to the Market stall to buy gifts for loved ones which is just fabulous for a brand as young as Vie Beads. I feel a need to say thank you to the Owners of Brew Haus Bradford and Tikio Industries which is a new venture itself. I love the ethos they have in supporting local and I will continue to share the love as it were in support of their continued efforts to bring something positive and great to the table in Bradford.

Now it’s time to move on, Vie beads remains online, and continues to grow, develop and learn. The newsletters and blogs will be weekly for subscribers, should you wish to receive them please leave us your name and email address in the subscription form. Our next event will be the Girls Day Out show in Glasgow at the end of the year where I look forward to meeting you all again.

Speak to Yourself Nicely

Being brought up in the Western world in a catholic environment I was taught to always care about others more than myself, which stops you speaking to yourself nicely.

Now I am an adult and I have experienced and seen the damage this ethos has done to me and brought to my generation and generations above me. Startlingly though even though the catholic system is no longer the dominant sought after education for children in my local area the same message is the one that is being taught to our children. The repercussions of this are drastic as it means that no matter what our intuition tells us is right for us we ignore it. We ignore it in favor of other people’s opinions and actively seek out approval for our thoughts and actions. Is it any wonder that we have greater problems than ever with mental health, how many mental disorders are real! I think the lack of support we are taught to give ourselves is one of the causal effects of new mental illness which we find a chemical fix for in the way of anti-depressants, therapy and counseling to name a few of which the government allow doctors to prescribe.

I’m not arguing that there is no such thing as mental illness, I am in no way qualified or educated to speak as such. I’m merely suggesting a rational idea led by nothing more than the ability to trust my intuition (which is wonderful gift gifted to us from nature) and the intuitively led self-education I have been programming myself with as I grow and develop though life.

So my gift to you today is to go look in a mirror and say ‘I am amazing, I have everything I need to thrive’ do this regularly throughout the day, do it regularly throughout every day and see what happens to the way you think about yourself, will you stop looking for approval? Will other people’s opinions matter? Do you really need to be dependent on someone else to realise your own strength? Is this what it means to have Faith? You were never conceived to fit in a box, You were conceived to create and add value to the species by just being who we You are?

Joining the Yogi’s of the world

I have always had a massive interest in dance and gymnastics, unfortunately as I have grown up my path has been reasoned with and has met the expectations others had of me. Recently I have had what feels like a huge awakening in that I have actually been taught that following my own desires and expectations of myself is not a selfish act but the act of kindness, that is why I find myself joining the Yogi’s of the World.

The programming I like most of the western world have been educated with whilst developing my skill sets in life have been detrimental to my very being.  Now I am learning to be kind to myself and Yoga plays a big part of this. In the first instance it satisfies the desires of the little girl I was and helps sustain the new learning and development of the woman I am now. Instead of being a runner, swimmer, cyclist and all round general athlete that can only dedicate time to be brilliant to a point (I’ve done all three, not for my benefit)  which attracts a negative energy I have decided to stop competing with expectation and just get to understand what I want from life.

In the second instance as I get older I don’t want to feel older. I have no desire in looking at someone else and saying to myself ‘I used to be able to do that’. Age is a number and time nothing more than a man made concept, and though my children are starting their journey’s in adulthood I still want to be able to feel the vibrations of their worlds. I will do this by being able to be of the mindset needed to support their experiences. This is a great element the peace and clarity the meditational side of Yoga gives and leaves you open to receive, and they can always join in.

Have a peaceful day and remember to be kind to yourself first, the vibrational impact in amazing.

King of The World – Festival Chic- Coachella

Ok maybe I’m not yet King of the world but the title was inspired by the watching of Coachella Highlights, as one of the presenters stepped onto a balcony and shouted just that down her microphone!

So the Coachella music and Arts Festival has just happened, I have followed some of the highlight’s, a lover of alternative fashion and a brand that advocates the alternative in all it’s bohemian glory there is no way I could not be privy to this happening on the other side of the Atlantic. So here are some festival chic fashion things that happened in San Diego last weekend

Personally I love all the fringing and layering fashion, Big bulky accessories are not my thing I like my accessories to feel weightless. Below is a selection of the Street style fashion which was prevalent in San Diego over the weekend. I do like the cosplay element people also decided to play up to, makes things a little more interesting.

Anyway back to Bradford, as in Bradford West Yorkshire UK, not Bradford Pennsylvania where the zippo comes from!  We have the Brew Haus Sunday Vintage Style market happening and I am so looking forward to seeing more new faces and speaking with more lovers of the awesome vibe the Brew Haus bring into the city with this monthly event. This week we have new addition to the stall which are ourleather necklaces, these can be found already in our Etsy shop, but should you want to see and try first hand this Sunday is prime opportunity. If you are planning and Leeds, Glastonbury, Reading or any other uk festival don’t forget get your fashion festival ready.

Sexy Saturday Night

It’s arrived, the much anticipated event of most peoples week, Saturday Night!

I hope you are having a great time dining out, watching movie, spending time with loved ones or having a sociable drink!

For me this week I couldn’t think of anything worse so  I am tucked up in bed with my laptop writing a blog post chuckling away to myself at the sorry state of affairs that this post would read.

P.S I love to party like with the best of the party animals in town, this week I feel a little under the weather, like I need to give myself time off, which as  a budding entrepreneur with massive plans and a huge vision I simply can not do! Most would say that’s the sacrifice one makes for having such lofty ambitions, but for me and for the record I love my life, I love my lifestyle for me it’s pleasure, not work, it’s my vocation and the example I want to set as a Mum, a good nights sleep should do the trick, I have a meeting to look forward to tomorrow.

Goodnight to you all,

Susan xoxo
